Sérgio Ferreira has been appointed as the new Head Coach of FC Alverca, taking the next step in his career by assuming his first managerial role in Portugal’s top flight.

The Portuguese coach joins the club after a highly successful season with FC Porto’s Under-19 side, leading the team to the Portuguese National Championship title and further establishing himself as one of the country’s most promising young coaches.

Ferreira’s coaching journey began at FC Foz, where he held several roles over a number of years before joining Dragon Force and later FC Porto. At the Dragons, he managed the Under-15 team before taking charge of the Under-19s over the past two seasons, continuing his reputation for developing young talent.

Between those roles, he also gained valuable international experience as an assistant coach under Carlos Carvalhal at SC Braga, Celta de Vigo, Al Wahda and Olympiacos, broadening his experience across different football cultures and competitions.

Now, his appointment at FC Alverca marks his first opportunity as a head coach in professional football, following a career defined by player development, ambition and consistent progression.
